Schmidt

Angela Schmidt is a German pianist distinguished by her interpretative depth, tonal refinement, and structural clarity. Her playing combines intellectual insight with emotional sensitivity. The renowned pianist Paul Badura-Skoda, with whom she worked for several years, praised her as “an artist who not only speaks Beethoven’s language, but breathes it.”
She is a prizewinner of the International Music Competition “Music & Earth” in Sofia, where she received a Special Prize in the piano solo category for her interpretation of Beethoven.
Her performances have taken her to international venues and festivals including the Mozarteum Salzburg, Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Schola Cantorum Paris, and the International Piano Meeting in San Daniele.
After graduating from the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt, she continued her studies at the State Music Academy “P. Vladigerov” in Sofia and completed postgraduate piano studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Alexander Fomenko and Vladimir Tropp.
She became the first German pianist to receive a Russian Ministry of Culture scholarship for studies at the Conservatory. Her mentors have included Paul Badura-Skoda, Vladimir Krainev, and Stanislav Pochekin.
A board member of the International Theodor Leschetizky Society, Angela is dedicated to rediscovering rarely performed repertoire. Her current artistic projects also focus on chamber music and the revival of works by overlooked female composers, alongside an upcoming solo recording featuring works by Chopin and Leschetizky.
