Matthieu Bergheau is an accomplished French concert pianist based in Lyon, specializing in the Romantic and post-Romantic repertoire.

A laureate of multiple international piano competitions, he has established himself as a distinguished interpreter through performances and recordings.

His career includes recitals, concerto appearances, and festival engagements across Europe, with particular expertise in the works of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev.

His playing combines technical command with profound musical sensitivity.

In 2024, Bergheau released Ailleurs: Rachmaninoff Piano Works on Odradek Records, a recording dedicated to Rachmaninoff’s solo piano repertoire that reflects his longstanding engagement with the composer’s virtuosic and lyrical language.

Beyond his performing and recording career, Bergheau is also interested in the intersection of performance and pedagogical technology, supporting advanced pianists in their professional development.

A versatile artist and advocate for piano music, he continues to contribute to European musical life through performances, recordings, and musical innovation.
